Update #9 - Product Box

Hello again everyone! We wanted to send out a quick update to remind everyone that surveys will be closing on August 23rd. We need your survey responses to get an accurate count of what color options and add-ons our backers want as well as coordinating shipping. If you have lost access to your survey, or never received one you can retrieve it by clicking here.
Note that even after surveys close, you will still be allowed to update your address, however you will not be able to change your RODA selections such as color upgrades or add-ons. That helps us secure the final count to make sure enough units are manufactured for each option.
Packaging
As part of our stretch goals we've been designing a box that would capture the beauty and elegance of the RODA and serve as a great packaging for those backers who want to give RODA as a gift. The packaging is sturdy, lightweight, and looks phenomenal!

We made a few tweaks to the final version but this prototype is very close to what you'll receive. Let us know what you think!
Off the Shelf Components
We've received several thousand gears and bearings, which then undergo quality spot checks to make sure they are up to our standards to ensure they press fit tightly into their final positions and never come loose. So far we've been very happy with the quality and next update you'll start seeing the first units fully assembled and ready for shipping!

The RODA campaign is officially done! With a total of 1,114 backers having pledges $120,106 to help bring the RODA Gyroscope to life. We can't thank you enough for all the amazing support we've received from you. Now it's our turn to get to work and return the favor by delivering an amazing product to each and every one of you. Now that the campaign is over we wanted to address the next steps.
Kickstarter Next Steps
Kickstarter has begun the billing process to collect the pledges from all our backers. There are always a handful of backers who's accounts have billing issues, be on the lookout for an email from kickstarter confirming that your payment was successfully processed. Otherwise, you will have exactly one week since the end of the campaign to update your payment information and make sure you get your RODA.
Funds collected from Kickstarter typically take 2 to 3 weeks to be delivered to the creator. Once we receive the funds, we'll order all the raw aluminum and brass to get started with manufacturing. We'll also be sending out the surveys to collect the information we need like addresses.
Upgrade Options
Multiple backers have reached out asking if it would be possible to upgrade their pledge to include a Kinetic Display Base. We're working to include this as an option when we send out our surveys for anyone who has decided that they'd like to upgrade.
The base is a separate component that the RODA easily snaps into, upgrading the pledge is simply a matter of us including that removable component in your package. The Color Upgrade option will also be available through the survey.
RODA on Indiegogo
If you missed out on the original campaign and would like to join in now, we've launched an Indiegogo campaign where you can pledge to receive a RODA. The Indiegogo campaign has fewer options than the kickstarter had, and those backers will receive their units after the Kickstarter orders have all been fulfilled, but it's a great way to get the RODA at a discounted price before the end of the crowdfunding period. In just 48 hours the RODA Gyroscope Kickstarter campaign will be coming to a close! We've been blown away by your support, with the RODA having reached over $92,000 from over 850 backers!
There's a few things we wanted to let our backers know before we reach the finish line.
Product Selection
We want to make clear to all our backers exactly what they're ordering. The two images below show the primary difference in reward types, which is that any reward with the word 'Showcase' in the title will include a base. Please check that your selection matches the product you're interested in.
Fulfillment
To collect all the necessary information from our backers we will be sending out a survey in early June to collect delivery addresses and color selections. If you think your address may change before we begin shipping you may edit the survey in the future. We'll also send out a reminder as we get closer to fulfillment to make sure your information is up to date.
Rip Cord
We've received multiple questions regarding the Rip Cord and wanted to address those here before the end of the campaign. The Rip Cord is made of injection molded Nylon and is very tough while remaining flexible. I've personally used mine thousands of times with no issues. We are also putting together our quality control plan, and are planning to test every single rip cord ourselves before shipping. We're so confident the Rip Cord will have such few issues that we will replace any Rip Cord that causes issues for any of our backers for free. Just send us a message!
